Three-Stage Water Filter Installation in Borrego Springs, CA
Plumbing Services
This service call involved installing a three-stage whole home water filtration system for a residence in Borrego Springs supplied by community well water. The homeowners had been noticing heavy limescale buildup on plumbing fixtures, an ongoing need for repairs and service, and a shorter lifespan of faucets and valves throughout the home.
After speaking with neighbors in the area who had experienced similar issues, the homeowners purchased an APEC Water three-stage filtration system designed to reduce sediment and mineral content before the water enters the home’s plumbing system.

Preparing the water service line for the new filtration system
Plumbing Services
Before the filter system could be installed, we evaluated the existing plumbing at the water service line on the side of the home. The piping in this area had become cluttered and unsightly over time, so the existing section was removed and rebuilt to create a cleaner and more reliable starting point for the installation.
A new main shutoff ball valve and pressure regulator were installed, and the copper piping was reconfigured to provide a proper supply line for the filtration system.

Once the new piping was installed and securely anchored, the filter itself was mounted in the homeowner’s desired location. We positioned it so that it was easy to inspect, service and operate valves. We were careful to install it level and used heavy-duty concrete anchors to secure to the building exterior.
The homeowner opted for an isolation loop, which allows the filter to be isolated from the system for service without disrupting water service to the home. It is comprosied of multiple ball-valves and a hose bib to relive water pressure for service. All connections were carefully inspected to ensure no leaks, and the system was flushed to remove any debris or chemical traces left from soldering. All fixtures were opened and tested to ensure proper flow and that the water was clean and drinkable. Finally, the work area was cleaned to complete the project.
